Coumes Spring Newsletter Summer 2nd half term 2019

Welcomes and Goodbyes – We would like to welcome the families that have joined us this term and our new apprentice, Charlotte, who will be working in the Rising Stars Room. We will shortly be joined, as well, by Joanne who will be providing supply cover for us as and when required.

Congratulations to Sarah in the Little Stars room who is expecting a baby.

It is with sadness that we announce that Anna Rowland, our Bursar, will be leaving us in August. Anna has worked at Coumes Spring since 2013 and we are very grateful for all her work in the office, keeping the huge mountain of nursery paperwork under control. We wish her well with her future career.

Parent Evening – We have a Parent Evening arranged for 25th June . This is for the parents of children who will be starting school this September and there is a list in the lobby where you can book an appointment. We welcome parents to come along as this is an opportunity to discuss your child’s transition profile with their key person.  The transition profile is a summary of your child’s development in all areas of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) and we are required to pass it onto the school that they will be attending, along with your own comments on their progress through nursery. The EYFS is the curriculum followed by all nurseries and school reception classes. You can find out about it on which is the Government website to provide both parents and Early Years professionals with information.

Emailing usPlease make sure that you only use when emailing us! Several  messages have gone missing lately when parents sent general emails using the email addresses set up for Tapestry and for sending out invoices. These email  addresses  are not monitored. Please use the “info” address for ALL enquires. We will make sure that your message gets through to the right person.

Water Bottles – Please can we remind parents that children need to bring a water bottle into nursery every day. Please do not put squash or juice in the bottle. If you are concerned that your child will not drink water please speak with their key person.

Packed Lunches/nuts/sweets  – We have noticed that some children are bringing sweets, e.g. chocolate bars, in their packed lunches. We have a healthy eating policy in nursery and do not allow sweets as part of packed lunches. We also have a “no nuts” policy as we have children attending with nut allergies. Nut allergies can be particularly serious, and it is difficult to prevent children from intentionally or unintentionally sharing food at mealtimes.

Leavers Picnic and Activity Day  – We have a special picnic and activity day on 4th July. All children who attend on Thursdays will be included.  In addition, if your child will be leaving to start school this summer but they don’t attend on Thursdays they are welcome to come to nursery that day at no extra cost. Please see the attached booking form. We have the Wise Owl charity bringing a range of owls and birds of prey along and there will also be a music and dance activity. We hold a picnic and  activity day every year, so if your child is not leaving and does not attend on Thursdays, they will have the opportunity to attend another year.

Booking places – We have places available in the Rising Stars Room for the Autumn Term but have few, if any places available in the Little Stars Room until July 2020. We are also very full in the Rainbow Room until January 2020. If you are thinking about booking extra sessions or want to reserve a place for another child please fill out a booking form as soon as you are able. Once we receive the booking form we can put your child’s name on the waiting list for a place.  We confirm places six months before the requested start date and we are not able to give an earlier indication of whether a place will be available as the situation can change over time e.g. when families move away or request a change of days.

Holiday playscheme –  Booking forms for the holiday playscheme will be out next week. We will be running special activity days again this summer holiday for primary school aged children. We have a dance tutor booked and a sports coach, we are also planning some trips out, a history week, a woodland week and an end of summer party day. The activity days are at a special rate of £21 for 9am -4pm or £30 for the full day and book up quickly.
